Positive Perception Will Help Drug Addicts Recover

Kuala Lumpur… The public’s negative perception of methadone — used by drug addicts to overcome their habit — may disrupt recovery. University Malaya’s Psychiatric Consultant Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Ahmad Zahari said that there is a lack of societal awareness about the methods used to handle drug addiction. He added that former addicts were having problems securing a job, despite overcoming their addiction via methadone. A combination of holistic and medical aid is key in tackling drug addiction and this will require positive support from society.
