Chronic Acidity Can Lead To Cancer

Dr. Prasanna Sharad Shah, a consultant gastroenterologist of Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai, India, said that about 5-20 percent of the people who suffer Gastroesophageal Reflux Disorder (GERD), could end up with stomach  cancer.  The common symptoms of GERD are acidity, burning, bloating, reflux and irregular bowels. Dr. Shah said: “When we suffer from acidity and the like, we keep on tolerating and take recourse to painkillers and other acidity relievers, ignorant of the fact that they do more harm than good.”  He added  that one must not  keep the stomach empty for than two hours. Small meals at short intervals utilise the digestive acids and save you from acidity.
