Venus Flu Trap
A team of researchers from the University of Manchester (UK) have developed a fabric coating for masks and air filters that can isolate viral particles that cause influenza (flu). This technology imitates carbohydrate structures of the cells in the respiratory airways and the oesophagus which prevent viral particles from entering the body. This research shows that the coating could trap over 99 percent of the flu virus that comes in contact with the coating. The researchers hope that this technology can be used to capture other potentially deadly viruses as well.
