Reducing Parkinson’s Symptoms

Mio

Mio is working with digital health firm, Beneufit, to help patients with Parkinson’s disease. The companies aim to use exercise to reduce the symptoms of Parkinson’s by tracking a patient’s progress during prescribed exercises based on Beneufit’s pdFit app for iPhone. In Beneufit’s 2014 12-week pilot scheme, patients who followed the pdFit program saw a 25 percent improvement in manual dexterity and 38 percent increase in fitness levels. The optical heart rate monitor watches (Mio Fuse and Mio Link) will be used with Wahoo cadence sensors (a fitness tracker mounted to a shoe or bike) instead of a heart rate monitor chest straps, for increased comfort.
