There’s no doubt about it — educating yourself about breast cancer could mean the difference between life and death.

In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness month, we’ve gathered some important facts and statistics about breast cancer that will help you increase your knowledge and insight about this all too common disease.

  • Every 13 minutes a woman dies from breast cancer
  • 1 in 19 Malaysian women will contract breast cancer

Most common cancers among women: 

Breast Cancer – 32.1 %survey

Colorectal Cancer – 10 %

Cervix Uteri Cancers – 8.4 %

 

45 % – 85 % increased risk if you have a family history of breast cancer

MAKE IT A HABIT TO:Self check

Conduct a self breast examination monthly (ask your doctor how)

Have an annual mammogram if you’re above 40

Have an annual clinical breast examination by your doctor

Researchers from University of Chicago report that lonely women are at a higher risk of breast cancer. 

 

Invasive ductal carcinoma

A type of breast cancer that starts in the milk ducts of the breast. It is the most common form of breast cancer.

EVERYONE is at risk – including men. However, women are much more likely to develop breast cancer than men.
