According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), failure to treat symptoms of depression and anxiety is costing USD925 billion (about RM3,719 billion), worldwide. It was also found that every USD1 invested in treatment for depression and anxiety gives a return of USD4. This is because the right health treatment creates good health, which leads to an increased ability to work. Director General of the WHO, Dr. Margaret Chan, commented that the treatment of depression and anxiety isn’t just good for our health and well-being, it makes economic sense too.
