Research from the University of Napoli (Italy) shows that drinking the equivalent of six cups of espresso for a person who weighs 70kg can help reverse non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In the study conducted on mice fed a high diet, ingesting high amounts of coffee helped protect against NAFLD. The mice gained less weight compared to other mice on the same diet, but without caffeine. More research is needed to understand the positive role of coffee in fighting against NAFLD.
